SLAM LiDAR buying and handover guide
Scope a SLAM scanner around the space, registration method, quality checks and point-cloud handover your project needs.
Understand the environment.
Indoor corridors, repetitive spaces, reflective surfaces and changing scenes can challenge a scanning workflow. Describe the asset and required detail before comparing headline range or capture speed.
Specify registration and checks.
Plan the route, loop closures and control strategy with the scanning team. Ask how drift, incomplete coverage and registration quality will be assessed. A visually convincing cloud is not independent proof of dimensional accuracy.
Validate the receiving workflow.
Confirm file formats, coordinate system, units, point density and any image association required by the engineering team. Test a representative dataset in Falcon AI or the target application before choosing a scanner based on assumed compatibility.
Budget for the complete system.
Clarify processing software, licenses, storage, accessories, support and repair arrangements. Ask for a demonstration in a space similar to yours and an explicit list of what the quotation includes.
Let’s work with your real brief.
Bring a site, a dataset or a hardware requirement.
